Last month, we heard rumblings that T-Mobile was planning to revamp its Even More Plus plans, rebranding them as "Even More Value" and requiring two-year contracts. Today we've finally got more details on the change, courtesy of our pals over at TmoNews. According to their sources, T-Mobile will soon begin referring to its regular plans as "Classic" plans, while what we used to know as Even More Plus will now be known as "Value" plans.
The new Value plans will reportedly still require a two-year contract and will require customers pay the full retail price of a handset spread out over a 21 month Equipment Installment Plan. The first month's payment will be due upfront and will allegedly cost the same as if you were buying the device subsidized with a Classic plan. The max Equipment Installment Plan is said to be $300 per line, and customers won't be able to cancel their EIP if they lose or break a phone. Finally, subscribers will reportedly be able to switch from a Classic plan to a Value plan for anywhere between $0 and $200 depending on how far they are into their existing contract, but once the switch to one of the Value offerings is made a user cannot move back to a Classic plan. Obviously all of this information is still unconfirmed at this point, but it offers up a pretty good idea of where T-Mobile will be going with its new plan pricing. The good news is that those of you already on a plan that you're happy with, like an Even More Plus plan, won't be required to switch to a Value plan, at least not right away. This new Value plan pricing is expecting to be introduced late next month, so we should be learning more about it in the coming weeks.
