Time to pour one out, folks. The T-Mobile G2, successor to the first Android phone ever, has been discontinued and will no longer be stocked by T-Mo stores. This news comes from a leaked screenshot sent to our friends at TmoNews, which shows that the G2 reached end of life status on June 6th. Of course, if you absolutely, positively need to buy the Z-hinged handset, your local brick and mortar T-Mobile store may still have a few units available.
Although it's kind of a bummer that the G2's been discontinued, the move doesn't come as a huge shock since the device was beginning to get a little long in the tooth. Plus, T-Mobile's got to make room for the myTouch 4G Slide, which is rumored to be launching on July 6th. The good news is that G2 owners still have an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread to look forward to. We're still waiting to hear exactly when that update is going to hit, but you can be sure we'll let you know more when we do. Stay tuned!
