We thought that when Sony Ericsson updated the XPERIA X10 to Android 2.1 last year, that was the last Android OS update that the aging X10 would ever see. It appears that SE has had a change of heart, though, as they've announced that the X10 will be updated to Gingerbread at the end of Q2 or the beginning of Q3. Unfortunately for the other X10 devices like the X10 Mini and Mini Pro, as well as the X8, SE has confirmed that those devices will not be getting the same treatment as the X10.
I'm not sure anyone expected the X10 to ever get another Android update beyond Eclair, but good on Sony Ericsson for continuing to make 2011 a good year for both them and their users. There's no word just yet on whether or not AT&T's version of the X10 will see 2.3 as well, but we'll keep our fingers (and toes) crossed and let you know when we hear more.
