Along with the Motorola Atrix 4G, HTC's Inspire 4G is one of the handsets that AT&T advertises a "4G" but actually isn't enabled to access HSUPA. We're expecting both the Atrix and Inspire to get updates to enable HSUPA at some point in the future, and now evidence of the latter getting updated has emerged. HTC has informed the FCC that it plans to flip the Inspire's HSUPA switch to "on," and the FCC has given the A-OK on the change. There's no indication as to when the update will actually arrive, but at least we've got evidence that it's coming.

While most Atrix and Inspire owners probably wouldn't notice the lack of HSUPA without someone telling them, there are also a big group of folks that know it's disabled and are understandably peeved about it. AT&T hasn't made it clear as to when the HSUPA-enabling updates will arrive, but if they're smart they'll do it soon. When more info on the updates comes out, you can be sure that we'll let you know.

UPDATE: AT&T has announced via its Facebook page that both the Atrix and Inspire will be getting updates in April and to enable HSUPA. Additionally, the Infuse 4G will ship with it enabled, although ATT didn't give up an new info as to when the Infuse will actually launch.
