Now that Verizon is finally offering a CDMA iPhone, that means that a CDMA-compatible iPad can't be far behind, right? It certainly seems that way, as Francis Shammo, CFO at Verizon Communications, reportedly admitted today that his carrier will soon offer an iPad with direct access to their network. Unfortunately, Shammo wouldn't say exactly when we can expect the new device to arrive on shelves.
Considering that there's officially a Verizon iPhone now, a Verizon iPad doesn't really seem like much of a stretch. Plus, Big Red has been selling the original device in its stores for months now, throwing in a MiFi for those customers that want Verizon 3G connectivity on the go. I would guess that, whenever the CDMA iPad arrives, it'll likely be iPad 2. We've heard that Apple could unveil an iPad 2 as soon as February 1st, but I would be shocked if the tablet actually arrived before April. After all, Apple's got a yearly update schedule to adhere to.
