Those of you that have been in the market for a Dell Streak but have held off until now are about to get some great news: Dell will soon begin to offer an unlocked version of the Streak directly from their website that comes preloaded with Android 2.2. There's no launch date outside of "the next few weeks," nor has there been any sort of pricing info released. An AT&T-locked version of the Streak will run you $549.99, though, so expect the unlocked model to sport a similar price tag. Rounded out the list of missing information, it's not known which 3G bands the unlocked version of the Streak will run on.
It's kind of surprising that Dell has decided to offer an unlocked Streak several months after it initially launched the device on AT&T, but having the option is always great. Plus, customers that opt for the unlocked version will get Froyo out of the box, while AT&T users will be waiting an unknown amount of time for the update to be rolled out to their device. So now the question is do you go with the unlocked, Froyo-filled Streak or wait for the Opus One to launch next year? Decisions, decisions...
