Yesterday we saw the DROID Pro and DROID 2 Global arrive in Verizon's ever-increasing Android lineup, but if you were looking for something a little more affordable, you won't be waiting long. Today Verizon announced that the Motorola CITRUS will be available tomorrow, November 11th (just like we heard), for only $49.99 with a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate. As a refresher, specs for the CITRUS include a 3-inch, 320x240 display; 512MB of ROM; 256MB of RAM; a 528MHz processor; a 3 megapixel camera; and Android 2.1 beneath a MOTOBLUR skin. Check out the full press release below.
Sure, the CITRUS isn't free like its Vortex brother probably will be, but $50 isn't a completely terrible price for an entry-level Android smartphone. Plus, you can use the CITRUS with Verizon's new 150MB/$15 per month data plan if you're a light user or looking to save some cash. Once they both arrive, it'll be interesting to compare the CITRUS and the Vortex and see which is the king of low-end Android on Verizon. If a recent leak is accurate, we won't be waiting much longer for that opportunity.
