Samsung may have felt that a 7-inch size was just right when they conceived the Galaxy Tab (which launches today on T-Mobile), but it looks like they don't want to be left out of the 10-inch tablet game, either. What you see above is a 10-inch, Samsung-made device that is being referred to as an e-reader by Tech-On!, although I wouldn't be shock to see it end up being released as a plain ol' tablet, especially since it's making a phone call in the photo. The 10.1-inch tablet, which is still very much a prototype at this point, features a 1,024x600 resolution, 1000:1 contrast, and measures only 1.8mm thin. Worried about breaking such a thin product? Fret not, because the 0.44mm/28g resin panel is said to be unbreakable. Unfortunately, the slim model is still two to three years away from hitting the market.
While the ultra-thin tablet you see above may not be hitting the market for another few years, perhaps Samsung will feel bold and launch the 10-inch slab sooner with a thicker, more affordable form factor. After all, Sammy has said in the past that they plan on launching tablets in sizes other than seven inches in the future, and 10 inches feels like the next logical step. There is a possibility that we could see smaller Tabs, though, such as a 5-inch model (a la the Dell Streak). Which size do you prefer your tablet to come in?
