Now that Amazon, Best Buy, and Target have begin selling the iPad, the question is which retailer will pick up Apple's tablet next? The answer, according to the folks at TUAW, may be Walmart. Gary Severson, the company's senior vice president of entertainment, said back in May that he expected Walmart to begin offering the iPad "later this year." Now that it's officially later this year, combined with the fact that there's not much time left in 2010, means that we should be seeing Apple's tablet pop up on Walmart's shelves somewhere in the near future.
Keep in mind that we don't actually know if Walmart plans to sell iPads. There hasn't been any evidence to show that they will besides Severson's statement. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised to see the iPad land at Walmart before the holidays. Walmart is the nation's largest retailer, and I'm sure that they could move more than a few iPads to customers shopping for holiday gifts. Plus, I'm sure Apple wouldn't mind using all of those extra holiday purchases to help give the iPad a leg up in sales before the incoming wave of Android tablets. After all, Q1 2011 is closing in quickly.
