Just five months after announcing the Snapdragon 765G processor, Qualcomm today took the wraps off of the follow-up to those chips.
The Snapdragon 768G is now official, boasting performance enhancements over the Snapdragon 765G. For example, the Snapdragon 768G's Kryo 475 CPU Prime core clock speed has been bumped up to 2.8GHz, compared to 2.4GHz on the 765G.
Qualcomm touts that the Adreno 620 GPU included with the Snapdragon 768G offers 15% better graphics performance. The 768G is also the first 7-series chipset to support for Adreno Updateable GPU Drivers, which help users control GPU driver updates and settings.
Just like the Snapdragon 765G, the new Snapdragon 768G includes a Snapdragon X52 5G Modem-RF System that supports all key regions and frequency bands. That includes 5G mmWave and sub-6GHz, 5G SA, and NSA modes, TDD and FDD with Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, global 5G roaming, and support for multi-SIM.
Other notable features of the Snapdragon 768G include support for 120Hz display refresh rates, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Wi-Fi 6 support, and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ tech.
The first phone to feature the Snapdragon 768G is the Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition. It also features a 6.67-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate and a quad rear camera array with a 64MP main sensor, ultra wide angle camera with 120-degree field of view, a macro cam for close-up shots, and a depth of field camera for portrait mode images. It's priced at 1999 yuan ($282 USD).
