We recently learned that the OnePlus 8 Pro might be the first OnePlus phone to include wireless charging, and now a new report says that that may not be the only long-awaited feature it includes.
The OnePlus 8 Pro may include better water resistance. Specifically, it's said that the phone might get an official IP rating, similar to what we see on other water resistant smartphones.
Max J., who previously leaked the OnePlus 8 Pro's possible wireless charging support, recently posted an image on Twitter that shows a purported OnePlus 8 Pro render with the word "water" on it. Max later told 9to5Google that the OnePlus 8 Pro will feature an IP68 water and dust resistance rating.
However, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Lite may not include the same water resistance rating.

OnePlus has said before that its phones are water resistant, but that paying to get an official IP rating wouldn't be the best use of its resources.
"We know that an IP rating would be the simplest way to prove our phone's capability, but the certification doesn't help us communicate our focus on your real experience," OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei said ahead of the OnePlus 7 launch. So instead, the company put out a teaser video that showed the OnePlus 7 Pro being dropped into a bucket of water.
While OnePlus has said that its recent phones can stand up to some splashes and things like that, an official IP rating could still be a smart move for the company. Seeing that IP rating could give some consumers more confidence in the OnePlus 8 Pro's water resistance, and it would give OnePlus another bullet point on the new phone's list of features.
