The year 2019 brought with it our first taste of 5G, and Samsung was a big contributor to that because it launched five 5G smartphones throughout the year. Today the company revealed exactly how many popular those phones were.

Samsung shipped more than 6.7 million 5G smartphones in 2019. What's more, Samsung made up 53.9% of the global 5G smartphone market as of November 2019, showing just how big a part the company played in the first full year of 5G's life.

Those 5G phones include the Galaxy S10 5G, Note 10 5G, Note 10+ 5G (shown above), Galaxy A90 5G, and Galaxy Fold 5G.

Unsurprisingly, Samsung isn't planning on slowing down its 5G device rollout in 2020. The company confirmed its newest 5G product today, the Galaxy Tab S6 5G, and said it will launch in Korea in Q1 2020.

Samsung isn't spilling any spec details for the Galaxy Tab S6 5G today, but it'll likely be a high-end device. The standard Galaxy Tab S6 includes a Snapdragon 855 processor, 10.5-inch 2560x1600 Super AMOLED screen with in-display fingerprint sensor, dual 13MP and 5MP rear cameras, and up to 8GB of RAM.
