As expected, Apple today launched Smart Battery Cases for the iPhone 11 models.
Apple is now selling Smart Battery Cases for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The design of these new cases is just like the Smart Battery Case that Apple released for the iPhone XS and XS Max last year, having a flat upper third portion and then a bottom two-thirds that protrudes because that's where the battery is located.
Also just like the Smart Battery Case for the iPhone XS and XS Max, Apple's new Smart Battery Cases for the iPhone 11, Pro, and Pro Max are priced at $129 each. The iPhone 11 Smart Battery Case is available in Soft White and Black color options, while the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max Smart Battery Cases get a third Pink Sand color.
There is one big new feature of the iPhone 11, Pro, and Pro Max Smart Battery Cases. Apple has built a dedicated camera button into the side of its new Smart Battery Cases that will launch the Camera app whether your iPhone is locked or unlocked. You can then press the button to snap a photo or use a longer press to get a QuickTake video.
Apple doesn't say provide the exact size of the batteries inside its new Smart Battery Cases. The company only says that its Smart Battery Case will get you "up to 50% longer battery life" for the iPhone 11, Pro, and Pro Max.
One of the major features of Apple's iPhone 11, Pro, and Max models is better battery life, with the iPhone 11 Pro getting four hours more battery life than an iPhone XS and the iPhone 11 Pro Max pushing that to five extra hours. Some people want all the battery life they can get, though, and Apple's Smart Battery Case will let them avoid plugging in for even longer while adding some protection as well. The inclusion of a physical camera button is also big and it could help avid iPhone photographers choose the Smart Battery Case over other cases.
