We've heard a lot of rumblings that suggest Apple is working on a new iPhone SE, and according to the latest report, that device may finally be close to launching.

Apple will reportedly launch the iPhone SE 2 in the first quarter of 2020. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors), the iPhone SE 2 will have a design similar to the iPhone 8, which features rounded sides and a glass back.

This "more affordable" iPhone SE 2 is also expected to have specs similar to the iPhone 8, but with a newer Apple A13 processor and 3GB of RAM. If the other design and specs of the iPhone SE 2 are similar to the iPhone 8, that suggests that it could ship with a single rear camera and a Touch ID fingerprint reader rather than a multiple rear cam setup and Face ID like the new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.

If the iPhone SE 2 does use an iPhone 8 design, that means it could ship with a 4.7-inch screen. That's a bit larger than the 4-inch iPhone SE display, but it's also quite a bit smaller than the 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro and 6.1-inch iPhone 11. And when you combine that smaller display with upgraded specs like an A13 processor, this rumored iPhone SE 2 could make for a good option for folks who want a smaller, more affordable device with modern specs.

There's no word yet on how much the iPhone SE 2 might cost. When Apple first launched the original iPhone SE, it started at $399.
