Google Maps is making it easier to share your journey with friends on Android and iOS.
On iOS, Google Maps is gaining a new feature that'll let you share your journey and ETA with friends, letting them know exactly when you'll arrive at a destination. Once you've started navigating to your destination, tap the ^ button and then select "Share trip progress". You can then share your live location, route, and ETA with contacts that you select.
This feature rolled out on Android in 2017, but today there's some good news for those folks, too. Google Maps' real-time location sharing on Android is gaining the ability to share your live location, route, and ETA across third-party apps, including Facebook Messenger, Line, WhatsApp, and more.
This improved journey sharing is available for driving, walking, and cycling navigation, and it's now rolling out on Android and iOS. While you can always look up directions to a place and then share your ETA with friends before you go, this journey sharing feature will let them see where you are during your trip, meaning they'll know if you run into any delays along the way.
You can get Google Maps for Android from the Play Store, while iOS users can download it from the App Store.
