One week after Sony pushed Android Pie updates to the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact, the company says that it'll be serving Pie to more devices soon.
The Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1, and Xperia XZ1 Compact will begin receiving Android Pie updates on October 26th, says Sony, while the Xperia XZ2 Premium will get its slice of Pie starting November 7th. The Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra, and Xperia XA2 Plus are scheduled to receive their updates starting March 4th.
Android 9 Pie is a significant update for Android devices, bringing new features like Adaptive Battery, which can learn which apps you don't use often and stop them from draining your battery in the background. You can also easily edit a screenshot after taking it, and Google has added support for smart replies in messaging notifications, allowing you to respond to a new message with a tap. There are better volume controls, too, letting you control media volume instantly.
There are still only a handful of devices that've been updated to Android 9 Pie, so it's nice to see Sony committing to updating several of its Xperia phones over the next month or so.
