Unsurprisingly, Samsung’s replacement Galaxy Note 7 models are now officially being recalled.
Samsung today announced that it’s expanding its original Galaxy Note 7 recall to include the replacement models that it began handing out in September. The company is working with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on the recall.
The US CPSC says that about 1.9 million Galaxy Note 7s are affected by Samsung’s recall, including the 1 million that were recalled on September 15. In the US, there have been 23 new reports of Note 7s overheating since the original September 15 recall.
To help convince Note 7 owners to turn in their phones, Samsung is offering a credit to consumers that do perform an exchange. Note 7 owners that swap their device for any other Samsung phone will get up to a $100 bill credit, while those that exchange their Note 7 for any other phone will get a $25 bill credit.
Samsung says that these two options will be available in its US Note 7 Refund and Exchange Program starting today, October 13, at 3:00 pm ET.
