Yesterday we caught wind of a new Windows Phone device referred to as the “Nokia Lumia 1525.” Spec details for the 1525 were light, but it was said that the mystery phone was T-Mobile-bound. Today more details on the Lumia 1525 have surfaced, and thankfully for Windows Phone fans on carriers other than T-Mo, it looks like the handset could hit other U.S. operators.
As suspected, the Lumia 1525 is said to be a variant of the Lumia 1520, a 6-inch phablet that debuted last year. The Lumia 1525 will reportedly be a Windows Phone 8.1 version of the 1520 with a Snapdragon 801 processor, which would be an upgrade over the Lumia 1520’s Snapdragon 800 chip.
When it comes to the shelves that the Lumia 1525 will be calling “Home,” today’s report claims that the new Nokia phone will be available from AT&T and Verizon as well as T-Mobile.
It’s not yet clear if the Lumia 1525 will include any upgrades besides a new processor and Windows Phone 8.1, which may be kind of a bummer for those folks that were hoping for a newer device. The jump to a Snapdragon 801 processor is a nice inclusion, though, and it’s great to hear that the Lumia 1525 will be available on three U.S. carriers rather than being a single carrier exclusive like the 1520.
