Microsoft hasn’t yet launched Windows Phone 8.1 to the public, but today a new rumor claims that the first major update for WP8.1 may already be nearly done.
According to a report from Neowin, the Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 update — also known as Windows Phone 8.1 Update — is “nearing completion” and will reach the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) milestone soon. In fact, it could hit RTM as early as this week. Once that stage is reached, the update will be pushed to users in the Preview for Developers program.
Details on what’ll be included with the Windows Phone 8.1 Update are still fairly light. However, a Microsoft support briefly went live last month that revealed that native folder support will likely be packed into the update.
Considering that Microsoft has been testing the Windows Phone 8.1 update in the Preview for Developers program since mid-April, it’s no surprise to hear that the Redmond firm is hard at work on WP8.1 Update. Today’s news is exciting for those folks enrolled in the Preview for Developers, though, as it means that they may soon have a big new update to try out.
Are there any specific features that you’d like to see included in Windows Phone 8.1 Update?
