The Ice Cream Sandwich update talk continues today, as LG has followed both HTC and Motorola in briefly discussing Android 4.0 and which devices will or won't be bumped up to the latest version of Google's OS. On its official Facebook page, LG has denied the rumors claiming that the Optimus 2X won't be updated to ICS, saying that the company is in the process of planning an ICS update for both the 2X and "other LG high-end smartphones." The full statement from LG is as follows:

"LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.

Thank you very much."

Obviously LG didn't mention any U.S.-specific smartphones in its statement, but the fact that it's planning an Ice Cream Sandwich update for other high-end devices alongside the Optimus 2X does give hope for owners LG handsets here in the States, especially the G2x, the American brother of the Optimus 2X. If you're an Android device owner wondering if your particular handset will be updated to ICS, just sit tight for now, as we should be hearing more specific news as manufacturers are actually able to get their hands on ICS and assess which devices can be updated and are worth updating.
