This is just what I needed: another techy temptation in the form of MyTouch 3G (and by that I mean that it really is what I needed). Most of you know that I recently bricked my G1. I haven't yet shipped it to HTC to see if I'll get the standard estimate for ROM-flashing boo boos: main board, $390. But I was set to start planning on procuring another G1, one way or another. Be it through bartering or a drawn-out series of Amazon and ebay sales. And now I'm thinking, "what's the point?" Well, maybe to have one Android phone set aside for modding, and another that I keep stock. Maybe.
Blogs everywhere are announcing the launch of MyTouch 3G in June, and it's all coming from one place: TmoNews. There's a reason people are comfortable sourcing them and equating their posts as official press releases - they are very reliable. And when TmoNews says they have a reliable source on a story, you can count on its contents coming to fruition. So I believe it when they say that we'll see MyTouch in stores by the end of the month.
Will the price of used G1's drop? Many will want the hard keyboard, so it's tough to say. I'm not up for a contract renewal, so I'm not sure how to make a G1 or a MyTouch happen for myself. But I am working on it.
