i love the slo-mo cam, the one handed usage, the golden color, the retina display....... i actually play a lot of games so the iphone 5s's app store is very useful, the features r great. PERSONALLY I THINK IT IS THE BEST SMART PHONE OUT THERE IN THE MARKETS
October 31st, at exactly 2:07pm EST, I placed my order for a brand spanking new Nexus 5. Less than a week later it was in my hands, it's all its Nexusy glory. A few days later though, I faced a small dilemma. This wasn't the device for me. Oh sure, it was a great device, with unbeatable value, and there wasn't any one thing terribly wrong with it. That being said, there were a bunch of little things that bugged me. So, I made up my mind and decided to swap my shiny new Nexus 5 for a different device. I had lots of offers, ranging from the HTC One to a Galaxy Note 3. In the end though, I went a different route and chose the Motorola Moto X.
My criteria were the following:
Easy One Handed Use: I like to be able to pull my phone out of my pocket and use it anywhere. Whether it's at the office, waiting for an appointment, or on a bumpy bus or subway ride. One handed use is very important, and being able to comfortably hold the device and reach everywhere on the screen with my thumb is great. The Moto X accomplishes this with ease to its small form factor, while keeping me happy with a nicely sized 4.7 inch display. Plus the rounded corners make the experience comfortable in a way that a handset with pointier corners never could.
Consistent Battery Life: My biggest gripe with the Nexus 5 was the battery. Not that it was short, rather that I could never be certain how long a charge would last. It was terribly inconsistent. One charge would last the whole work day, the next would die 3/4 of the way through the day, the next would take me past the work day. All with remarkably similar use. The Moto X is no Note 3, but it really does well for having a 2200 mAh battery. It consistently takes me through the day, and while I know I will be charging it each night, I'm never left guessing.
An Amoled Screen Without Touchwiz: I'm a sucker for an amoled screen. I know they have their drawbacks, but I absolutely love those deep and rich blacks. I find it an incredibly striking feature on a phone. That being said, I realize that amoled is usually the realm of Samsung in the Android world. Unfortunately though, I just can't stand Touchwiz. I find it gaudy, counter intuitive, and the added features just get in my way. The Moto X was a great way to have a screen I wanted, but not have to deal with the OEM skin I didn't want.
I Wanted Vallue Add Features That Actually Improved How I Use My Device: Every OEM adds gimmicky features to their devices, hoping that their offerings will be the ones that resonate with consumers. By and large I'm not a huge fan of these features. Oh, some of them are useful, but mostly they seem to get in my way, or in their worst form actually hinder how I like to use my device. The Moto X features though, are an absolute joy. They enhance my experience with my device, rather than complicate it. Active Notifications, for example, is something that should just be a standard Android feature, it's that good. Having my device know when I'm driving and offer to read my messages to me is just really helpful. Being able to launch my camera any time with a flick of the wrist helps me get those candid shots. Being able to search for something when my phone is across the room and have it read me the result is just plain fun. All are value add features that don't get in the way of the user.
DISPLAY
with a 1080x1920 resolution with 441 ppi coming with sony's trilouminous display, colors look very life like. Compared to samsungs over saturated and cartoony colors.
call quality
With the z1, call quality is average but good enough for everyday usage.
battery life
with the 300 mah battery, the z1 could easily get you through 2 days with heavy usage
performance
the qualcomn snapdragon 800 gives the phone a very buttery perfrmance and very fast as well
design
there is no question there, the z1 is easily called one of the best looking phones out there
apps and media
even though the speaker is at average volume, sound is very clear with no backround sound. The camera looks amazing, with great features, but it definately takes better outside shots, and low light is not the best. When it comes to apps, then you won't find a single app it can't handle. Gallery is very simple to use, typing is flawless, and e-mail app and calender are very easy to use.
software
the UI for sony is my favorite because I don't like ios experience, and when you compare it to touch wiz on samsung, sony's UI is way easier to figure out. I also have to say that HTC and Sony's UI's are the simplist android UI's.
This phone will not let you down. It does everything except clean the bathroom and cook. An amazing phone when you dont want to also carry a tablet.
Really loving the metal detail finish! enough said :)
i just think it's the best phone out there 5 inch display but with the advantage of the 4.7 body size which makes it perfect
I have been an apple fan since the launch of iphone 4. After the 4 to 4s and 5 to 5s that apple did i got tired. i Wanted a big display with awesome specs. I like apples fluity. I was looking at the nexus 4 and felt like i was going from an iphone to iphone because the nexus wasnt good enough either with no LTE and small screen. Android i have always hated it soooo much until i found the pure android by google which i got interested in. always wanted to try pure android experience since i am not fan of bloatware or slow crashing devices. Once nexus 5 was announced i wanted it. i saw like sooo many reviews and unboxing that it was time to switch. now i was on verizon network so i tried the HTC one, didnt like it, tried the iphone 5s and it felt boring so i decided to switch overt to at&t and purchase the nexus 5 and i have to say being a hardcore apple fan from having ipads, apple tv, macs, iphone, and using itunes a lot, it was the best decision i have ever made. i was stuck between note 3 and nexus 5 but since i am not fan of bloatware and touchwiz then i decided nexus 5 was the best fit. i was hoping i didnt make a mistake but i did not i love the phone. my girlfriend believes i am going to change back to apple because i am a very picky and specific person when it comes to phones and nexus 5 has absolutely made it the phone for me. What can be better then pure android experience, first updates from google, well built device, and google has a hand on it.
The real reason i got tired of iphone is because i constantly needed to charge my phone and i made every possible way to save battery life, wasnt good enough. The screen size as well (i like to watch a lot of you tube videos such as reviews before i make a purchase and to learn about products) was too small for me so i needed a bigger screen but not huge either like the note 3 cause i do not like phones that big.
Battery life is wayyyyy better then iphone but it is not as good as HTC One but i do not mind because i had horrible battery life before with iphone so its an improvement.
Price point is freaking amazing, you can get two for the price of an iphone and 4 times better then an iphone. of course iphone is aluminum but once you drop it there goes that nice design.
Screen quaility on iphone is good but the nexus 5 is amazing, gorgeous.
No SD card slot i do not care for because i was never used to it and i do not like using them at all either way. no issues there.
Removable battery not an issue for me because i do not like carrying extra stuff with me either way so what it has is good enough for me.
App store support is a little less then App store by apple. of course but i must say it is not like seeing night and day difference such as battery life and screen size.
In my opinion i would give this phone 9 out of 10.
That one point would be for the app store needs cleaning and better quality apps and if the battery was 2600 or 3200 mha battery then it would be the best phone ever.
In the last few years many devices passed in my hands.
The Nokia n95 was my first taste of a smartphone, then I had Motorola milestone, Motorola defy, samsung Omnia W, galaxy s3 and finally! the moto x.
I just loved this gadget. Design, hand fell, overall quality...everything is just awesome.
The exclusive functions shines. Google now always on, the shake movements to turn on the camera (that's my favorite by the way) and the ridiculously useful smart notifications.
But the moto x is not just about goodies. The device heats a lot during games, like Real Racing 3 and Dead Trigger 2.
The camera is just fine, but it's a downgrade for someone who cames from the S3.
Media and apps consumption is limited by the built in memory.
Battery....mine can handle 12-15 hours of very intense use. I'd like to have a 24 hours battery as the Motorola promised, but considering my use, I think is ok.
The display is very good too, smaller in comparison to the S3, but with nice color reproduction and very sharp.
You will have no lag at all with the Moto x, and the kitkat coming soon is a quite good reason to buy one.
I'm a lawyer and a mobile tech analyst in the free time, so I use a lot of functions and devices in my jobs. After this little disclaimer I say: I didn't know any android device smarter, useful, intuitive and well built than this one. Even my iPad mini was forgotten after this guy arrives home.
This is it, I hope that my little review would be useful.
This phone has taken smartphones to another level altogether.
Samsung have all the gimmicks which we will ALL just turn off after a week, but HTC One has everything in it to stay.
Superb quality, makes me wonder why I thought iPhone was superb, not any more.
I walked into an Apple store and spoke with 3 salesman who had the Nexus 5, Z1 and an iPhone. After using my handset for a couple minutes, they were convinced and decided to return their purchase and exchange it for the HTC One.
This aint the first either. I've made many people use my phone only to see them change and buy a new phone.
Premium quality needs a new word for this handset!
The ONE... and only! Once you get him, you fall in love with this device. -_-
This a office-based smARTPHONE WITH GOOD LOOKS AND AWESOME HARDWARES OFFERD BY SAMSUNG AND ITS MY FAVOURITE PHONE!
I have the galaxy s3 with metro pcs they are the best i pay 60 a month no problem with service and I get LTE I'm happy with them
I got my HTC back in June. I did tons of research, ran the specs and pricing and thought I had identified the best of the best. But I was wrong. The shiny finish wore off rather quickly - figuratively - not literally. I was hit by the purple tinge with the camera. That was the end of my experience with a new HTC One...because what the carriers and manufacturers don't tell you, is, your phone won't be replaced with a new one, but a refurbished device. As good as new isn't. I'm having my first replaced used phone replaced by another replacement used phone. Essentially, that means a used phone at full price...not really a bargain and certainly not the best value. But apparently, Sprint and HTC aren't alone on this. All the other carriers and manufacturers do this.
While it was working properly, call quality was adequate. Low light pictures were the best available on a new unit, but regular pictures and low light both suffered horrendously when zooming.
BlinkFeed could certainly use a little versatility such as being able to set your own feeds.
It's quick. The internals do a decent enough job.
All around...there are better phones available without the premium pricetag.
Love the phone great battery life, amazing screen and super fast processor.
I was looking to buy one of the phones that would allow post process focus, but this app works well. My battery life seems to be getting better after fully discharging and recharging a few times. I have several friends who have purchased after they saw my phone and we're all happy with it. Only regret is that I just played with the Nokia 1520 and it was very very nice.
