The month of May is coming to an end, meaning we get to reflect on some of the best apps to hit the Play Store during the month. Let’s not waste any time, let’s get started.
The first app is called No Stick Shooter. This is a modern take on a classic arcade shooter. It’s quite simple as all you really have to do is fire weapons at oncoming hordes of enemies. There’s some strategy involved and plenty of weapons to choose from and over 30 levels of non-stop mayhem.
Notification Reminder takes advantage of Android’s swipe down notification panel. What this app allows you to do is create reminders that you can access from a notification that is in the panel. So not only can you use this app to quickly scribble down a phone number or an email address for example but you can actually view the reminder every time you swipe down the notification panel. This is ultimately going to help you remember via the reminder.
Stash for Reddit is a must-have for Reddit junkies out there. When you’re on a Wi-Fi connection, the app will download videos, GIFs, and images from your favorite sub-Reddit so you can browse through your favorite sub-Reddits without ever using any mobile data. The app will actually sync while you’re asleep or at work so if you don’t have any mobile data, you’ll still see the latest posts.
AUTOSET is a powerful system modifier. You can use this app to automatically enable and disable utilities as you start specific apps. This might sound confusing but one example would be to set it up so that it activates the location every time you open up Google Maps and deactivates it when you leave the navigation. It’s a really powerful tool to have in your toolbox.
If you like circular-shaped icons, you’ll want to look into the Flix Icon Pack. It features circular icons that are super minimal and reminiscent of stock Android. The only difference being the circular shape of the icons. There are over 300 icons and the pack works with many of the popular launchers on the Play Store.
Really Bad Chess is chess but with scrambled up pieces. When you play a game, the app will actually randomize your pieces so that they’re in no particular order. Additionally, you may end up with eight knights, 4 bishops, and 3 pawns. It’s certainly not for everyone but for those of you who are looking for a fun twist to the classic chess game, you might want to check out Really Bad Chess. It’s not that bad, I promise you.
The Minimalist Wallpapers app features a ton of minimalist wallpapers to choose from and download. In fact, there are over 2,500 wallpapers to choose from with new wallpapers being added every single day. I’m absolutely a fan of simplicity. I love me a high resolution image of a forest or something but sometimes it can just make my phone look a little bit cluttered with apps placed on top of said photo. A minimal wallpaper really helps highlight the applications I have on my home screen. If you’re looking for a new wallpaper for yourself, you should check out Minimalist Wallpapers.
Screenshot Assistant is a great app to have for those of you who take a lot of screenshots. After you configure this app, all you need to do to take a screenshot is hold down the home button. From there, you can crop the screenshot, you can download it and/or share it with your friends. It works incredibly well. The only downside is that you won’t be able to activate Google Now with a long press of the home button.
Join the Dots is a game that will test your reaction time and quick strategic thinking skills. Your goal is to adjoin all the dots together before they leave the screen all while avoiding the squares. It’s simple, fun, and challenging.
The very last app on the list is called Lode Runner 1, a fun platformer game. You play as a futuristic dude with funky, cool hair who needs to collect all the gold in each map to proceed to the next map. It can get pretty challenging, however, as there are many enemies that get in your way. I think if you like platformer games, maybe you’ll like what you see here. You should check out this game.
So with that last one, those are our favorite Android apps of May 2017.
Which app is your favorite?
