The month of May is officially behind us, meaning we get to reflect on some of the best tech products we had the pleasure of testing this past month. Without further ado, let’s get started.
SCOTTeVEST has unveiled a brand new jacket called the Hoodie Cotton. I know what you’re thinking, why are you featuring an article of clothing in a video for PhoneDog? Well, it’s because SCOTTeVEST isn’t just any old clothing company. They design clothes with an obscene number of pockets for your smartphone, tablet, headphones, keys, wallet, travel documents, other gadgets and essentials that you might need with you on the go.
The Hoodie Cotton is no exception. First of all, it features 80% cotton and 20% polyester blend that is super comfortable. It also comes in black, maroon, ash, and cobalt blue. I went with the stealthy black look as you can see here.
In terms of pockets, we’ll see that there are 21 pockets in total. There are two that can hold a large tablet like an iPad or Mi Pad, two smartphone pockets that will give you access to touchscreens. You have various other features such as an extendable keychain, travel documents pocket, and a compartment for your sunglasses. It’s a little bit hard to show you just how feature-packed this jacket is on video but I hope you believe me when I say that this jacket is the most feature-packed jacket I own.
Probably my favorite feature has to be the do not disturb eye mask that is built into the hood. It’s pretty awesome. If you’re in need of a fancy new hooded jacket, check out the $95 Hoodie Cotton.
Next on our list is the Bragi Dash Pro. I had the pleasure of testing about every Bragi product since the Earbuds and it’s neat to see how the company has progressed over the years. The Dash Pro is what the headphone should have been all along in my opinion. We recently reviewed the headphone in a Best Tech video here on PhoneDog.
These are completely new wireless earphones capable of playing music via Bluetooth and dampening the environment around you. My favorite new feature with the Dash Pro earphones is the touchpad that will let you swipe on these earphones to pause or play music and skip songs. It’s just a better input method than buttons. I think the touchpad is a definite win here.
I especially love the feature that allows me to pause my music and turn on audio transparency with a simple tap on the bottom of the earphone. When I tap it again to play the music, it will actually turn audio transparency off and turn passive noise cancellation on and start playing my music so I can focus on what it is I actually am doing. All I hear is the music. I don’t hear any background noise. But if I just need to talk to somebody, I just tap on my earphones and boom, I can instantly hear the environment around me and engage in conversation. What’s also neat is that you can spend a few extra bucks and get these earphones custom tailored to your ears through the company called Starkey.
While the price of $329 is the biggest con, I think the Dash Pros can be well worth it if you’re looking for the most feature packed wireless earphones on the market. With the audio transparency mode, the ability to measure your heart rate and track your workouts via GPS, these earphones are very feature packed.
Third on the list is the Samsung DeX Station. If you own a Galaxy S8 or S8+ and you’re a casual computer user (that is you generally use your computer to browse the web and type up documents), you should seriously look into the DeX Station as it will essentially turn your smartphone into a PC. Once you put your Galaxy S8 or S8+ into the DeX Station dock, which is then connected to a monitor, you’ll get access to a very familiar operating system that kind of resembles Windows. You get a start menu and desktop icons as well as access to Android applications. This illusion to replace your PC is not flawless as the lot of apps you use on a regular basis on your smartphone won’t scale appropriately to fit a large monitor. But Samsung’s apps do work well with the DeX Station and we might be able to see the most popular Android apps get updated to support the DeX Station within the next few weeks or months.
Once again, if you’re a casual computer user and you own a Galaxy S8, you should seriously check out the DeX Station. It costs about $150.
The last product we have for you today is the Gravitas iPhone/iPad Dock from Henge Docks. For about $69, the Gravitas features a 2.5 lbs. dock that is constructed with a metal alloy that is 265% denser than aluminum. So what this means is that it looks pretty, it looks just like aluminum and it fits perfectly with Apple’s design language which consists of aluminum and glass. The weight will also help keep this dock from sliding around on your desk when you plug in or remove your iPhone or iPad from the dock. Some other features of this dock include a USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Henge Docks also includes in inserts for older iPhones and they also include a 3-foot USB cable to get this dock up and running in no time.
With that last one, those are the products we’ve had the pleasure of testing out during the month of May 2017.
