When Huawei released the Honor 8 last year, it came at a time when Android 6.0 Marshmallow was still the latest OS available. But in just a few months, Google announced that they were rolling out with a new OS called Android 7.0 Nougat. To compensate for the change in the OS, Huawei promised that they would be releasing an Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Honor 8 in February. The promise was made back in December.
Staying true to its word, Huawei has just announced that they will be releasing the final build of Nougat for the Honor 8 tomorrow, February 10th. On its announcement, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer revealed that the update will be available in stages. Huawei reassures that all Honor 8 devices will receive the Nougat update by the end of the month. It will also run with EMUI 5.0 alongside it.
The update is said to rollout globally, which means it will be available to all Honor 8 users throughout the world. But there are some countries wherein the update will be available beforehand. For example, a beta version of the update had already been available in the UK for quite some time now. So it would only be logical why the Nougat update will be available here before anywhere else. It is possible that the US could get the update at the same time though.
Apart from the Honor 8, Huawei will also be releasing a Nougat update for the Honor 6X. Although Huawei has not specified exactly when the update will be available, we might hear of it during Q2..
