Last month, a report claimed that Android 7.0 Nougat would launch sometime in August. Now a major carrier appears to have confirmed that leak.
Canadian carrier Telus posted an Android update schedule to its website yesterday, and while most phones are listed as receiving security updates or bug fixes, Telus says that Nougat will arrive near the end of August. Specifically, the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are expected to begin receiving Android 7.0 on August 22.
Also of note is that that LG says that its G5 Nougat preview starts August 22.
Nothing is official until Google says it is, but it’s very possible that Telus is correct here. Something similar happened last year, with Telus claiming that Android 6.0 Marshmallow would begin rolling out on October 5 days before Google made any announcements. It turned out that Telus was right, though, because Google did begin pushing Android 6.0 on October 5.
Get excited, Nexus owners, because you may get to sink your teeth into Nougat on Monday (assuming you’re not already running the Android N Developer Preview, that is).
