We’re marching closer to the public launch of Android N — and the reveal of N’s official name — and today Google released a new Android N Developer Preview to help devs get their apps ready.
Android N Developer Preview 4 (build NPD56N) is now available. This update includes the final APIs for Android N, and devs can also grab the final Android N SDK through the SDK Manager in Android Studio. With all of these goodies, developers can ensure that their apps are ready for Android N when it starts rolling out to the public later this summer.
If you’re already enrolled in the Android Beta Program, you should receive an update to Android N Developer Preview 4 over the air. If you’re not in the Android Beta Program, you can enroll your device right here. The factory images for the update are also available if you’d prefer to flash your Android device with a fresh version of Android N.
Android N Developer Preview 4 is available for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C, General Mobile 4G, and Sony Xperia Z3.
Android N will bring with it several notable new features. That includes a split-view mode that’ll let you run two apps side-by-side on both phones and tablets and a refreshed notifications shade, which will offer quick toggles up top, quick replies for replying to a notification in the shade, and bundled notifications that will group together multiple alerts from a single app. You can see the Android N Developer Preview 3 update in action on the Nexus 6P right here.
