A few months after the LG Stylus 2 made its debut, the Life’s Good crew has introduced the Plus version of the stylus-equipped smartphone.
The LG Stylus 2 Plus features a 5.7-inch 1920x1080 display, which is a higher resolution than the 5.7-inch 1280x720 display found on the regular Stylus 2. The Stylus 2 Plus’s processor has been upgraded, too, coming in at an octa-core configuration rather than the quad-core chip found on the Stylus 2.
Also included in the LG Stylus 2 Plus is a 13 or 16-megapixel rear camera and 5 or 8-megapixel front camera, the pairing of which will vary by region. Also varying by region are the RAM and storage amounts, with some markets getting 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage while others will get 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Both models will included a microSD slot, though, so that you can add more storage if you want to.
Rounding out the Stylus 2 Plus’s spec list is a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, 4G LTE connectivity, a built-in stylus, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with special software features like Quick Memo and Pen Keeper, the latter of which will alert you when the stylus and phone stray too far apart. Powering the whole package is a 3000mAh battery.
The LG Stylus 2 Plus is launching today in Taiwan for an unspecified price. It’ll make its way to Asia, South America, North America, and Europe in the coming weeks.
Even though Samsung’s Galaxy Note phones are fairly major releases, stylus-equipped smartphones are still fairly uncommon. LG is working to change that with the Stylus 2 phones, but the regular Stylus 2 might have turned some folks off with its entry-level specs. The Stylus 2 Plus isn’t what most folks would consider high-end, but it does have much-improved specs and “significantly better performance” than the Stylus 2, so folks that want a stylus-packing phablet but aren’t feeling the glass-covered Note 5 may want to keep an out for the LG Stylus 2 Plus.
