After several OnePlus 3 leaks, OnePlus today confirmed the launch date of its new Android flagship as well as one other key detail about its release.
The OnePlus 3 will be available starting at 12:30 pm ET on June 14. For the first couple hours following its launch, though, it’ll only be available in virtual reality through The Loop, OnePlus’ VR storefront. OnePlus 3 sales on the OnePlus website will begin at 3:00 pm ET on June 14.
That brings us to the other big piece of OnePlus 3 launch news. OnePlus has announced that from the start, the OnePlus 3 will be available without an invite. Furthermore, OnePlus is abandoning the invite system for all future product launches.
OnePlus’s invite system was always kind of controversial. OnePlus used it to ensure that they could scale their operations as they grew, but many consumers didn’t care for the system because it meant that they couldn’t just point their web browser to OnePlus’s store and buy a new flagship smartphone on day one. Now that OnePlus has a few major phone releases under its belt and has established itself as a major player in the smartphone market, though, OnePlus is confident that it can handle the rush of day one orders.
Now that the invite system is gone, are you considering picking up a OnePlus 3 on launch day?
