Before the Nexus 6P was officially announced, a rumor suggested that the phone would be sold in four colors: Aluminum, Graphite, Frost, and a “Special Edition” gold. That turned out to be true, but the thing is that the Gold version is currently only available in Japan. Thankfully, that could change soon.
A report from 9to5Google claims that the Nexus 6P will soon be available in gold in the US. No other details were given, so it’s not known exactly when the golden Nexus 6P may go on sale, but this is exciting news if you covet golden gadgets like I do.
Gold has become a popular color in the world of mobile. Apple’s iPhone has been available in gold since the 5s was released in 2013, and phones like the HTC One M7, M8, and M9 as well as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 5 have all been available in golden hues. Gold seems like a natural option for the Nexus 6P and its metal frame, but Google opted to make the gold 6P a Japan-only release at launch. Considering the rising popular of gold smartphones, it makes sense for Google to expand the gold 6P’s availability outside of Japan.
Today’s report also mentions that Google intends to offer the Nexus 6P through Best Buy “soon.”
