The OnePlus 2 is now invite-free forever, and starting this week, the OnePlus X is going to be easier to get a hold of as well.
OnePlus says that starting this week, the OnePlus X will be invite-free every Tuesday. While it’s not quite the same as going totally invite-free like the OnePlus 2, this does mean that anyone interested in the OnePlus X will be able to get without waiting for an invite to hit their inbox.
OnePlus’s invite-based buying system has caught a lot of flak, and while both the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X launched with the same system, the good news is that they’ve both shed them much faster than the OnePlus One. That device took a full year to lose the invite-based system, while the OnePlus 2 took around four months. The OnePlus X hasn’t completely ditched invites yet, but it will be available without an invite on a regular basis a little more than a month after its release. And with today’s news, the OnePlus X is one step closer to being invite-free forever.
