After announcing its plans to launch Wi-Fi Calling a couple of days ago, Verizon has started pushing updates to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.
The Verizon versions of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are being updated to software version G920VVRU4BOK7 and G925VVRU4BOK7, respectively. Included in these updates are support for Verizon’s Wi-Fi Calling, which is part of its Advanced Calling 2.0 feature set that also includes stuff like Voice over LTE. Once you’ve updated, you can enable Wi-Fi Calling by going into the Advanced Calling section of your phone’s Settings.
The full list of goodies included in these Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge updates looks like this:
Verizon has confirmed that the updates are now rolling out, so if you’ve got a GS6 or GS6 edge on Verizon’s network, you can check for this update by going into Settings > System Update > Check for new. Right now, you’ll only be able to use Wi-Fi Calling when talking with other GS6 and GS6 edge owners that’ve updated, but you’ll be ready to use Wi-Fi Calling with other devices once they’re updated, too.
Verizon says that it plans to roll Wi-Fi Calling out to other Android and iOS devices in 2016.
