Back in July, AT&T completed its acquisition of DirecTV, a huge combination in the world of service providers. Now Sprint is celebrating the acquisition with a special deal.
Yes, Sprint is celebrating AT&T’s acquisition of DirecTV with a special offer for DirecTV customers. Any of the satellite TV subscribers that switch to Sprint can get one year of service for free. The service includes 12 months of unlimited talk and text as well as 2GB of data.
This DirecTV offer will run from August 28 through September 30. In order to qualify, you’ll need to switch to Sprint or be a Sprint customer that adds a new line of service. You’ll also need to get a new smartphone through iPhone Forever, Sprint Lease, or Sprint Easy Pay, or just pay the full retail price of your phone.
It might sound kind of strange to hear Sprint celebrating an AT&T acquisition, but that’s exactly what Sprint wants. The deal sounds strange and so it can get people to check out what the offer is all about, and then Sprint hopes that when DirecTV customers hear “free year of service,” they’ll want to take advantage.
