We’re already well aware of BlackBerry’s upcoming Venice, an Android-powered slider phone, but apparently that may not the only Android phone that BlackBerry is working on.
A new video from Dudu Rocha Tech. claims to show a BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition running Android. To be specific, the device is running Lollipop, and what looks to be a fairly untouched version of Lollipop at that. The phone is a prototype unit, as evidenced by the blurred out portions of the device and its screen that are protecting the owners info, and the device appears to be working just like you’d expect an Android-powered Passport to. That includes the keyboard trackpad that can be used to scroll through lists and pages.
There’s a lot about this mysterious Android Passport that we don’t know yet, including whether or not it’ll ever see a public release. Given this leak and all of the recent BlackBerry Venice leaks that we’ve seen, though, it certainly seems like BlackBerry is at least toying with the idea of launching an Android phone or two. Perhaps we’ll see the Venice first and then the Passport if the Venice sells well? The Venice is rumored to be launching in November, so perhaps we’ll learn more about this Passport then, too.
