Apple’s got two new accessories for the Apple Watch, and they’re both designed to help folks with bigger wrists wear the iOS smartwatch.
Apple today added a larger size Sport Band to its online shop. Previously Apple only had S/M and M/L size bands, but now it’s offering L/XL bands, too. The new L/XL bands are only available for 42mm Apple Watch models, and they fit wrists 195-245mm. To compare, the S/M band fits wrists 140-185mm and the M/L band fits wrists 160-210mm.
It’s also worth noting that while the S/M and M/L Sport Bands are available in black, white, pink, blue, and green colors, the L/XL bands are only offered in black and white. The new band costs $49.
If you’ve got a larger wrist but want a band that’s a bit fancier than the Sport, Apple is also selling a Link Bracelet Kit on its store. The kit includes six stainless steel links that can be used to allow the Link Bracelet to fit wrists from 205mm-245mm. The Link Bracelet Kit is also priced at $49.
If Apple wants its watch to take off, it’ll help to make the wearable available and appealing to as many consumers as possible. That’s likely part of the reason that it offers three different versions of the Apple Watch — a cheaper aluminum model, a middle-of-the-pack stainless steel version, and a high-end gold unit — and that’s also why it offers differently-sized bands. These larger Sport Bands and the Link Bracelet Kit mean that even more folks can strap an Apple Watch onto their wrists.
