It’s the start of a new month, which means that Google’s got some fresh Android distribution stats for us.

Google today posted the distribution of the various versions of Android, which it determines by studying which versions access the Google Play Store app during the 7-day period ending today, June 1. Android 5.1 finished the period at 0.8 percent, up from 0.7 percent last month, while Android 5.0 grew to 11.6 percent. That gives Lollipop a total share of 12.4 percent.

Moving down to 4.x versions of Android, version 4.4 KitKat fell slightly to 39.2 percent, while the combined versions 4.1-4.3 of Jelly Bean ended with 37.4 percent, a near-2 percent drop. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich fell from 5.3 percent in May to 5.1 percent in June. Rounding out the Android pie is 2.3 Gingerbread at 5.6 percent and 2.2 Froyo at 0.3 percent.

As with most recent Android distribution reports, there’s nothing terribly shocking with these latest numbers. Android 5.1 didn’t grow much because it’s only rolling out to a few non-Nexus phones, but Android 5.0 saw some nice growth as new flagship phones like the Galaxy S6 and One M9 continue to sell with Lollipop in tow. The good news is that the LG G4 is launching with Android 5.1 this month and Samsung is rumored to be prepping Android 5.1 for the GS6 in June as well, so July’s report might see more than 0.1 percent growth for Android 5.1.
