A few weeks after Motorola announced the start of its Android 5.1 rollout for the Moto X (2nd Gen.), the update has made its way to the U.S.
The Moto X (2nd Gen.) Pure Edition is now getting bumped up to Android 5.1, which bumps the phone up to version 23.11.14.en.US. There are a number of goodies included with the update, like improvements to notifications, the ability to change Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections from Quick Settings, a new Chop Twice for Flashlight gesture, and a whole bevy of bug fixes. Motorola’s full Android 5.1 changelog for the Moto X (2nd Gen.) can be found here.
It’s always exciting to see big Android OS updates roll out, and now that Motorola has started pushing 5.1 to the Pure Edition of the Moto X (2nd Gen.), hopefully the same update for the carrier-branded versions of the phone are around the corner. For now, you Moto X (2nd Gen.) Pure Edition owners can check for this update by heading into Settings > About Phone > System updates. There’s also an OTA link if you want to load it manually.
