Today Google took to the I/O stage to announce Android M, the next major version of its mobile operating system. That’s not the only new Android-based software that Google revealed today, though.
Brillo is Google’s new operating system for Internet of Things devices, which includes things like Nest thermostats and smart ovens. Brillo is based on Android and includes support for Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, and it has minimal system requirements so that it can run on all kinds of products.
Alongside Brillo, Google announced Weave, a communication platform that can be used to help phones, Brillo devices, and the cloud all communicate together.
Google says that Brillo will launch in Q3 and Weave will be in Q4. Are you interested in Internet of Things devices?
