If you’ve got a Nexus 6 on T-Mobile, I’ve got some news that ought to help make your weekend better.
Des Smith, Senior Product Manager for T-Mobile, has announced that T-Mo has approved the update for the Nexus 6 that’ll give the phone Wi-Fi Calling support. T-Mobile’s support page for the N6 shows that the update will also include a bump to Android 5.1.1.
Smith says that a “small group” of Nexus 6-toting T-Mobile customers will get the update this weekend. As long as everything works as expected, the update will roll out to more users in the coming days and weeks.
Not only is this update important to T-Mo Nexus 6 owners because it bumps them up to the absolute newest version of Android — which is very important to many Nexus users — but it also adds Wi-Fi Calling support. That’s a feature that T-Mo pushes heavily, and I’m sure that there are a lot of N6 owners that are happy to see the feature finally making its way to the newest Nexus smartphone. Here’s to hoping that the start of the rollout goes smoothly so that it can expand quickly.
