Days after LG Display showed off its new 5.5-inch QuadHD LCD that’s going to be in the LG G4, the Life’s Good crew has revealed another feature that’s going to be in its new flagship Android phone.
LG has announced “LG UX 4.0,” which is going to make its first appearance on the G4 and then hit other LG devices later on. LG describes its new UX as “simple and intuitive,” and the company has highlighted a few of the major new features of LG UX 4.0. One is Quick Shot, which lets you double-click the volume down button on the back of the phone to activate the camera app, even when the screen is off. LG also makes mention of an Expert Mode Camera feature in UX 4.0 as well as a Gallery that’ll automatically make a photo album for you based on the time, date, and location of images that you capture.
Another new feature in LG UX 4.0 is Smart Board. It can gather information from your calendar, music, health, and more and then make all of that information available at a glance. There’s also Smart Alerts, which learns about your environment and lifestyle to provide customized notifications. For example, if LG UX 4.0 knows that you like basketball and that there’s some clear weather, the software may suggest that the sunny weather would make for a good basketball game.
LG says that the new version of its custom Android software is all about providing a custom experience for the user. With features like an album-creating Gallery, Smart Board, and Smart Alerts, it definitely seems like LG is indeed aiming to make its custom user experience more personal. This could make some users feel more connected to their device. The look of the LG UX 4.0 doesn’t seem terribly different from LG’s UX 3.0, save for some tweaked icons, but so far we’ve only seen a couple of screenshots of LG UX 4.0.
LG is holding an event on April 28, and it’s expected that we’ll see the G4 revealed there. Until then, we’ll likely see LG continue to trickle out details of its new smartphone like it’s been doing lately. Stay tuned.
