OnePlus said earlier this month that it planned to release its Android 5.0-based OxygenOS ROM on or before March 27. Well, today is March 27, and unfortunately the update is nowhere to be found.
OnePlus has confirmed that it will miss its planned March 27 rollout of OxygenOS. The company explains that while the ROM is functional, OnePlus is putting it through extra quality control to make sure that the update passes Google certification and that future updates can be properly rolled out over the air. OnePlus doesn’t have a new target date for its OxygenOS rollout, but it does say that it plans to share more information on the update’s progress every day until its release.
As for CyanogenMod 12S, OnePlus says that it doesn’t have much influence over that update’s release. However, it is helping test the CM12S update during the “last stretch” with the goal of getting the update out as soon as possible. OnePlus previously said that CM12S would roll out on or before March 30.
OnePlus One owners have been waiting a while for their Lollipop updates, so I’m sure that quite a few of them are disappointed to learn that not only has OxygenOS been delayed, but that there’s also no current ETA on its release. At least OnePlus says that it’ll be transparent about the progress of the update, so OPO owners can stay up to date on how it’s coming along.
