A noteworthy update to Google Maps for Android has started its rollout.

Google says that it’s now pushing a new version of the Google Maps app for Android that lets you view your custom My Maps inside the Google Maps app. My Maps lets you create custom maps with lines, shapes, and placemarks as well as information like addresses and place names. You can use these maps to show special information like your favorite restaurants or apartments that you want to consider moving into.

Previously you could only view custom maps in the My Maps app for Android, but now the main Google Maps can show them, meaning that you can get a more familiar and streamlined experience. Google notes that the Google Maps app for iOS can’t
