The phablet trend shows no signs of slowing down, and today Huawei revealed its latest addition to the craze.

The Huawei MediaPad X2 features a 7-inch 1920x1080 IPS display, and Huawei says that the device offers a viewing angle of 178 degrees. It’s worth noting that Huawei is designating the MediaPad X2 as a “phablet,” not a straight-up tablet, implying that it thinks of  the new device as a big ol’ phone.

Packed inside of the MediaPad X2 is a 2.0GHz Kirin 930 octa-core processor that’s also 64-bit and includes LTE Cat6 support for cellular speeds of up to 300Mbps as well as dual SIM slots. There’s also a beefy 5000mAh battery inside the device that Huawei says can last for one day of “heavy use.” 

Huawei’s also thrown in a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera, and either 2GB of RAM/16GB of storage or 3GB ofRAM/32GB of storage. All of this is packed into a body that measures 7.28mm thick.

The MediaPad X2 comes one year after the debut of the MediaPad X1, which has a 7-inch display, quad-core processor, and its own 5000mAh battery. While the spec sheets of the two MediaPads don’t appear terribly different, the X2 does have an octa-core processor over the original’s quad-core, and the X2’s design has been updated.
