Samsung recently began poking fun at all of the Galaxy S6 rumors with some crazy, outlandish prototype models on a GS6 countdown timer. It’s pretty unlikely that the Galaxy S6 will end up looking like any of those products, but some new images that may show the GS6 itself have surfaced.
Several images of what are said to be the Samsung Galaxy S6 have been posted to the xda-developers forums. The images show a device (possibly an AT&T engineering sample) with a shape that’s somewhat similar to the Galaxy S5 with rounded corners, a physical home button, and a silver earpiece. However, the phone in these photos has a physical home button that looks a bit larger than the one on previous Samsung phones.
Another big change between this possible Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S5 is the metal outer edge. There are two separated volume buttons on one side of this device, while the other side has a power/lock button that’s nearly centered. The placement of that button seemingly lines up with a Galaxy S6 image leak from earlier this month. The top of this alleged GS6 houses a microUSB port, headphone jack, and speaker grille, while the bottom has only a microphone.
Finally, the back of this alleged Galaxy S6 houses a camera that juts out from the body, along with what looks to be a metal ring. To the right of the camera is a flash and heart rate sensor. All of that also lines up with the aforementioned GS6 leak from earlier this month.
So is this the real deal? We won’t know for sure until March 1, but the device in these images does seem to line up with the leaks and rumors that we’ve heard about the Galaxy S6 so far. It’s got a metal body for a more premium feel, and the placement of many of the parts line up with other leaked GS6 images.
What do you think of this device? Will you be happy if this is indeed the Galaxy S6?
