None of us are new to Apple rumors. And even if you are, give it a couple of weeks and you’ll be knee-deep in all sorts of different reports. Some of them are ridiculous, and maybe, just maybe, some of them will become a real thing one day. The best rumors revolve around Apple patents, for the most part, but sometimes some standouts exist all on their own.
The Apple TV is the most obvious one. And no, not Apple TV like the set-top box that Apple’s been selling for years. The actual TV that analysts have been claiming will be coming “soon” for ages now. It’s slowed down as of late, but that might have something to do with the fact that there’s a brand new, more grandiose rumor making the rounds.
What’s bigger than a TV? How about a car.
A car you say? Why not!
This rumor has really snowballed, too. It started with an unmarked “Apple mini van” being seen out in California, and while the initial reports surrounding that sighting actually made sense (like Street View coming to Apple Maps, for instance), it quickly turned into something else entirely. Rumors suggest it’s an electric vehicle. There are some rumors that say it’s an electric self-driving car. Eventually I’m fully expecting to hear someone say it’s a floating car.
The rumors are well and good, but there definitely seems to be some energy to it. A report recently shed some light on the team that’s been allegedly put together to build this car, for instance. We all know that Apple works on projects and doesn’t ever release them. They test things, and try things, and end things long before they even hit the rumor mill. The car could be one of those instances. The Apple Car may never see the light of day, but as it stands right now it seems pretty clear that Apple is, at the very least, working on it.
So, my question to you at this point is: would you even remotely consider buying an Apple Car? I know that it’s a loaded question, because every single official detail is missing at this point, but I’m genuinely curious. Is a car something that Apple should be considering at all? Let me know what you think.
