Earlier today, Pebble posted a countdown timer on its website that hints that something is going to be announced next week. As is usually the case in situations like this, though, the rumor mill claims to have details on the news before that announcement.
Sources speaking to 9to5Mac say that Pebble has been working on new hardware and software that might be ready to show next week. Pebble’s new hardware is described as having a “slightly wider, color, e-paper-like display” and a body that’s slightly thinner than the original Pebble. The new wearable is also said to have a microphone and battery life that’s “in line” with the current model.
On the software side of things, Pebble is reportedly working on a new Pebble OS that’s been totally redesigned and will be “dramatically different” than what we’ve got now.
Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky recently teased that his company has new hardware and software planned for 2015, and a countdown timer like this one certainly seems like something that’d be used to build hype for a major announcement like that. Of course, we won’t know for sure what Pebble is planning to announce on Tuesday until it actually announces it. Regardless of what happens on Tuesday, though, this rumored new Pebble sounds like a great improvement over the current model, offering a larger display that’s got color and is in a thinner body.
What do you think of this rumor? Does this refreshed Pebble hardware pique your interest?
