We’ve seen quite a few Firefox OS phones launched to date, but because the platform is focused on affordable devices for emerging markets, the Firefox OS roster has left many phone nerds unimpressed. That may change with LG’s Fx0.
The LG Fx0 is a new Firefox OS 2.0 phone that has a transparent casing, letting you see the insides of the device at all times. The LG Fx0 was created by designer Tokujin Yoshioka with the goal of displaying the “openness, freedom, and transparency that are core to the Mozilla mission and values of Firefox OS.”
When it comes to straight-up specs, the LG Fx0 packs a 4.7-inch display, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 8-megapixel rear and 2.1-megapixel front cameras, 4G LTE, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSD slot that supports cards up to 64GB in size. The LG Fx0 is powered by a 2370mAh battery.
While the LG Fx0 is one of the most high-end Firefox OS phones that we’ve ever seen, the main draw for most is likely to be its transparent case. The device is unlike pretty much every other phone that’s currently available, and it’s pretty cool to be able to see all of the internals of the Fx0 at all times.
