Remember last month when Huawei said that the Ascend Mate2 wouldn’t be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat? That’s still the case, but now there’s some good news to go along with that.
Huawei announced today that it has “reassessed [its] upgrade strategy” and has decided to upgrade the Ascend Mate2 to Android 5.0. The Ascend Mate2’s Lollipop update is expected to begin rolling out in the first half of 2015.
When Huawei originally announced that the Ascend Mate2 wouldn’t be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat, there were quite a few folks that were pretty upset. That’s understandable considering that the phone had launched with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean just nine months earlier. Thankfully, Huawei listened to its customers and has decided to change its plans, and it’s even skipping them straight to Android 5.0. Good on ya, Huawei.
