Spring is in the air, and cellular phone manufacturers are kicking off the second quarter in style at the CTIA Wireless show. With the PhoneDog brass in attendance, they have been able to find out first hand what all of this year's upcoming handhelds are going to be! So let's not waste any time! Here is what you can expect to see from some of the top cellular phone manufacturers.
Nokia, who has decided to even add Bluetooth to their basic mobile devices, introduced three new phones for CDMA providers. Two examples are the new 2865 and 2365i. Push-to-Talk is included with the 2865 candybar device while the 2365i clamshell has a great internal color screen. The third new CDMA Nokia phone is the 6175i. Very slim, the 6175i was introduced to replace the 6155 and includes a 1.3 mega pixel camera along with an internal antenna.
Not to be topped at this year's show, LG unveiled numerous new clamshell phones for 2006. One model designed for GSM technology is the CG225. Key attributes include a VGA camera, speakerphone, and external display. The remaining devices introduced are for CDMA technology customers and include the LX-550, VX-8300, VX-5300, LX-350, and VX-3400. Out of this line-up, the LX-550 music phone seems to have the most features, and includes EV-DO, Bluetooth, 1.3 mega pixel camera, and dual color displays.
Samsung followed suit by introducing four new GSM phones, three clamshell, and one candybar style. With carriers in mind, the T719 and the T509 are both going to T-Mobile customers. Coming out first, the T509 is a candybar style device with VGA camera, Bluetooth, and will become the thinnest in the US once available in May. Having to wait until next quarter, the T719 flip phone actually will feature BlackBerry email sync and RIM's SureType hybrid keyboard. Cingular customers can expect to see the D407 camera phone before the start of the summer, while Sprint customers will be able to purchase the A960 EV-DO camera phone with.
Motorola continues to bask in the success of the RAZR, by announcing three new color schemes. The V3i will now be available in dark blue, deep purple, and maroon. CDMA customers can upgrade their RAZR V3c to the new RAZR V3m music phone with new memory card slot. The W315 is a basic clamshell with a sleek round design like the PEBL.
With it only being the first day of the CTIA Wireless show, I am sure there are going to be many more announcements and wonderfully inventive devices to come.
