LG Electronics MobileComm Commits to the Fight Against Domestic Violence with the First of Many Contributions to the CALL TO PROTECT Campaign
SAN DIEGO, July 6, 2005? Furthering their support of local and national philanthropic efforts, LG Electronics MobileComm (LG) today announced it will donate 700 wireless phones to The Wireless Foundation's CALL TO PROTECT campaign to support victims of domestic violence. LG will continue to donate phones to the campaign on a regular basis, making this the first in a series of contributions to the fight against domestic violence.
The CALL TO PROTECT campaign uses proceeds from the sale of phones to help fund agencies that fight domestic violence, and to assist the educational efforts of the Wireless Foundation. Phones are also given to victims to use as lifelines in an emergency situation.
?LG is proud to lend our support to such an important campaign,? said Jon Maron, director of marketing communications at LG. ?We as a society must actively work to end domestic violence, and we hope that LG's donation will both raise awareness of the issue and help protect the victims. We look forward to continuing our involvement with CALL TO PROTECT and other campaigns in the future.?
LG has supported local San Diego domestic violence shelters through the donation of phones in the past. Last year, LG made a joint donation with Cingular Wireless to aid the hurricane relief efforts in Florida. LG's most recent contribution to the CALL TO PROTECT campaign confirms the company's dedication to community support on local and national levels.
